1 CYBER VALLEY JOIN THE PCI SECURITY STANDARDS COUNCIL IN ESTABLISHING THE FIRST INDIA-SOUTH ASIA REGIONAL ENGAGEMENT BOARD FOR 2025-2026.

1 Cyber Valley bring fantastic news this week of their involvement within the South Asia Board of Advisors, in association with the PCI DSS Council. The Regional Engagement Board is a new initiative within the council, created to act as advisors to the Council on payment security issues and challenges in the region, and as ambassadors for helping increase education and awareness of PCI SSC standards and best practices for safe payments. What is the purpose of the Regional Engagement Board you may think? Being on the Regional Engagement Board is important for stakeholders as it provides a platform to provide input, share regional expertise, and influence the direction of standards and initiatives, ensuring that regional needs are met and that relevant information and best practices are disseminated throughout the ecosystem. This collaborative environment fosters community building, allows for networking with peers and global organizations, and promotes trust in digital payment systems by ensuring that industry standards and programs are effective and tailored to local markets.

Nitin Bhatnagar, in his feature on the Council’s episode of ‘Coffee with the Council’, explained that ‘the Regional Engagement Board is going to act as an advisory role for the PCI Security Standards Council on payment data security issues in specific geographies. So, that's where India and South Asia comes into the picture. The REB’s purpose is to enhance global payment security by fostering the broad adoption of the PCI security standards and by improving payment security practices. Now, the regional advisors will represent the perspective of the Participating Organizations and stakeholders in India and South Asia, advising and providing feedback and guidance to the PCI SSC on the standards, program development, and adoption in India and South Asia.’ Bhatnagar’s focus on ‘Shaping Security Standards’, ‘Representing Regional Perspectives’ and ‘Fostering regional Collaboration’ stands out to us at 1 Cyber Valley and is a potent factor behind why we grabbed the opportunity to be part of this initiative with both hands.

The involvement of 1 Cyber Valley symbolises the development and ambitions we have here at 1 Cyber Valley and is a clear demonstration of the company’s growth! This is only the second Regional Engagement Board to be established by the Council, following the launch of the Brazil Regional Engagement Board in 2018, this alone shows the highs that the PCI industry itself is evidently reaching.

Gina Gobeyn, Executive Director of the PCI SSC, stated that “The formation of a REB in the India-South Asia region represents an important step in global collaboration with the Council and highlights the significance of the India-South Asia market in the world of payment security.” We at 1 Cyber Valley completely agree with this from Gina as we truly believe the Regional Engagement Board will help push forward the necessity of PCI in the region and make payment security better known in the region. The successes of the Engagement Board in Brazil are so heavily apparent and we know the Board in South Asia will only resemble similar achievements, especially through the help and guidance that will be offered by the other 26 organisations helping make the Board happen.

The opportunity has brought a great feeling of excitement to everyone here at 1 Cyber Valley and we cannot wait to see the results that come from this experience. From new relationships to insightful conversations we know will now take place in a new region, there can only be a greats sense of optimism around the entire project.
